Flight Medics

 

Job Description:

••• Overseas/Non-Combat Position •••

[Contingent] Do you possess experience as a flight medic? If so, we want to hear from you!  Successful candidates will engage in the practice of emergency medicine and possess substantial judgment and knowledge along with the requisite skills needed to provide safe and therapeutic paramedic care to patients.  Flight medics must abide by all applicable laws, and LA+SG protocol, policies and procedures.

Some Key Duties Include:

  • Respond to emergency situations and provide care to patients requiring air or ground transport ensuring optimum patient care, safety and recovery
  • Provide care during missions, accurately assess and deal with life-threatening situations
  • Provide care to patients during non-flight time to ensure optimum patient care, safety and recovery
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of paramedic principles, practices and techniques, as well as knowledge of how various equipment such as a monitor or defibrillator work, and how to troubleshoot problems that may arise
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Minimum Skills and Requirements

  • RN / Medic 5 + years’ experience required
  • Minimum one year flight experience/Medevac experience required
  • Must be a licensed paramedic and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required
  • Current BCLS (within last 2 years)
  • Current ACLS (within last 2 years)
  • Proof of good standing with appropriate licensing authorities
  • Basic Trauma Life Support or Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum certification or equivalent
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of multidisciplinary team
  • Valid Passport
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to document work as per regulations
  • Able to push and/or pull approximately 75 pounds
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 125 pounds
  • Able to work in varying conditions, stand for long periods of time, fit in tight spaces, fly on-board company aircraft
  • Maintain all licenses to comply with regulatory agencies
  • Complete knowledge of regulations and requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification; National Registry Certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification; Advanced Trauma Life Support course audit and Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification preferred
  • Advanced certification of FP-C or CCP will be required within 2 years of hire
  • Military background with deployment strongly preferred
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluent English
  • Excellent assessment / communication / decision making skills
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Willingness to work as a team and assume any task when requested
  • Possess quality decision making capability and mental alertness to ensure safety
  • Must be reliable and punctual when reporting to work
  • Flexible

Additional Information

  • 60 on 60 off rotation
