[Contingent] Do you possess experience as a Police Trainer? Do you excel in harsh environments? If so, we want to hear from you! Successful candidates will identify training requirements, conduct classroom and field security operations training using various specialized training methods and sources, and coordinate related training activities. Potential candidates must possess substantial judgment and knowledge along with the requisite skills needed to provide safe training to students. Potential candidates must be physically fit, and will be required to pass a medical physical and a PT test (including 2 mile run, push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups, with one standard regardless of age or gender). Police Trainers must abide by all applicable laws, and LA+SG protocol, policies and procedures. Potential employees need to be aware that although this is a non-combat zone, the climate, terrain and overall environment is challenging.
Some Key Duties Include:
- Develop innovative and creative training techniques, lesson plans and procedures utilizing latest tactics
- Schedule training sessions and resources
- Conduct thorough classroom and field training
- Conduct formal, informal, on-the-job or remedial training, and provide remedial training recommendations
- Assess and validate knowledge learned, effectiveness of training, and recommend changes to training program development, delivery, or trending measures
- Research and assess relevant security operations training requirements and make appropriate recommendations to improve trainee readiness and operations
- Conduct self-assessments, ensuring timely action to identify and correct any deficiencies
- Determine training equipment needs, evaluate training environments and make cost-effective recommendations that improve effectiveness, safety and efficiency of the training program
- Develop, deliver, evaluate and assess training that meets or exceeds specific training requirements
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for task validation
- Perform related duties as assigned
Minimum Skills and Requirements
- 2-year degree (or higher) in a security-related field or equivalent levels of related education and experience in security, military, or law enforcement
- Must have successfully completed: Basic Security Police Officer Training, Basic Instructor Training, Basic Readiness Standard (or equivalent) and Live Fire Shoot House Instructor certification
- Must be able to successfully complete: comprehensive medical exam including a cardiovascular assessment and psychological evaluation and physical training test (or equivalent).
- Broad knowledge of protective force security operations and the application of individual and small team tactics
- Experience coordinating or leading activities and providing instruction and direction to others; and contributing to, participating in, or conducting assessments
- Highly effective organizational skills and keen attention to detail; problem solving skills with experience identifying and researching alternatives or solutions to obstacles
- Advanced interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive issues with tact, discretion, and maturity
- Communication skills with demonstrated ability to present information in both written and oral formats
- Ability to obtain and maintain a relevant clearance and physical fitness and firearms qualifications in accordance with applicable regulations (non-negotiable)
- Excellent proficiency with computers including word processing, database and spreadsheet applications, and experience with the MS Office suite
Desired Skills and Experience
- Current certification in BSPOT or Tactical Response Force-I or Opposition Force, Basic Tactical Entry (BTE) Specialist, BTE Instructor, Firearms Instructor, Intermediate Force Instructor, BIT, Armorer, Live Fire Shoot House Instructor, and Instructor Development Certificate (IDC) and experience performing protective force related duties
- Experience as a police trainer/supervisor in a protective force, security operations or related field
- Success building and leading teams and motivating others
- Pre-Employment Drug Test: Applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test
- Military background with deployment strongly preferred
- Ability to read, write and speak fluent English
- Excellent assessment / communication / decision making skills
- Willingness to work as a team and assume any task when requested
- Possess quality decision making capability and mental alertness to ensure safety
- Must be reliable and punctual when reporting to work
- Flexible
- Complete knowledge of regulations and requirements
- Maintain all licenses to comply with regulatory agencies
- Ability to work independently, and as part of multidisciplinary team
- Valid Passport
- Valid driver’s license
- Able to document work as per regulations
